It is that time of year again.
Written by Jennifer Ronzo
Today has brought us some frigid temperatures so this is my yearly reminder on how to prevent your pipes from freezing.
1) Keep your faucets on a low cold drip.
2) Make sure all outdoor pipes are drained and winterized.
3) Insulate pipes, especially in crawl spaces.
4) Keep the garage door closed.
5) Keep your thermostat on the same temperature at night as you do during the day.
6) Open the cabinet doors to allow warmer air flow to circulate under sinks.
7) If you have a pipe you know has frozen in the past place a safe plug in radiator near the area - as long as you can monitor and do this safely.
8) You can also place a heating pad around the pipe as long as you can monitor it.
Stay warm. Be safe.
